Estate planning for parents in New York City
By Ian Herrick — 2026-10-27
The Trust Dad is a New York estate planning law firm built for parents. We write wills and revocable living trusts that name who raises your children and who manages their money, for a flat fee you know before we start. Meetings are by video or at our office in Lower Manhattan.
Who we help
Parents with young children who have put off estate planning because it felt expensive, slow or confusing. Whether you rent or own, and whether you have a little saved or a lot, the first goal is the same: your kids cared for by the people you choose.
What you get
- A will-based or trust-based plan, whichever fits your family
- The Guardian Game Plan: guardians and backups for your children, people you never want considered, someone who can step in on an emergency, and instructions about how your children are raised
- Powers of attorney, a health care proxy and a living will
- With a trust: your home moved into it, and instructions for moving each account
- A Trust Dad Legacy Interview: a recorded conversation your children keep
- A free plan review every three years
How it works
- A free 15-minute call. Tell us what has you thinking about estate planning. We'll explain how we work and, if we're a good fit, book your planning session.
- A planning session. We walk through your choices in plain English and design the plan together.
- A signing meeting. We go over each document with you, and you sign.
- Your Legacy Interview. A recorded conversation for your children to keep.
All three meetings are included in the flat fee. Evening, weekend, and video appointments are available.
